“We had a fantastic time in a dream cottage. We were three people who used this property as a base to explore some parts of Wales. It was great coming back to the cottage after a day out.  We had plenty of room, the facilities were great and staying at the cottage was an experience itself. I would definitely do that again and recommend it to all of my friends.
As I have seen the picture I thought this must be wonderful. I have to say that the picture on here won’t ever be able to show how great it is in fact. I would say it is quirky and got a lot of style. Everything was perfect.”  TobiasFfynnon oer - 02

“We stayed two weeks at Uchaf with four persons and had gorgeous holidays. Thanks so much, Melise! We are planning to visit this amazing cottage next year again. Our little pug was with us at Uchaf and enjoyed the time, too.Melise equiped the cottage with all you need: a dish washer, a washing machine, tv, wifi-internet, a KitchenAid, lots of typical Welsh shale-stone, many cookbooks, bone china and many pieces of high class furniture. There is definetly a lot of love in this cottage. Furthermore there’s Petra – the very helpful and all-time available housekeeper of Uchaf.

We liked having breakfeast outside in the garden looking at the grazing sheeps and the hilly landscape in front of us.

We visited Lampeter, Aberaeron, New Quay, Aberystwyth and Tregaron. But all the days we were glad of coming back to the cottage.

If you like to go out for food: the best fish & chips you definetely get at New Celtic Pub in Aberaeron. You also should visit the Town Hall cafe in Lampeter for lunch. But we often used the kitchen’s equipment and cooked for ourselves in the cottage. Laura left her best scones recipe in the guest book for future guests.

All in all we have to recommend Uchaf and its host Melise without any confinements”Laura and Tobi

“Words and photos don’t do it justice. We were blown away by the cottage and the surroundings – perfect for a cosy November long weekend in front of the fire and snuggled up in the crogloft.”  Catherine

“We cannot recommend this place enough. Our hosts were perfect, from cookies and a welcome on arrival, to making sure we had enough firewood to keep us cosy! And the cottage is one in a million.
We were after a place to escape work and the busy world we live and this place was heaven.
The cottage has so much character and after 6 days I was still marvelling at all the little details!
The surrounding area is packed full of beautiful coastal walks so there is plenty to do if you’re outdoorsy.
Again, couldn’t have been more pleased. ”
Thanks again. James and Jenna

“We booked a last minute holiday and came across Melise’s gorgeous thatched cottage. She was so lovely and quick to respond to our enquiry. We adored the cottage it was beautiful, clean and really romantic. We were only 15 mins from Aberaeron a stunning fishing port and with the log burning fire we were in heaven. Thank you for a brief but wonderful stay.”  Richard

“The most beautiful quaint little cottage I’ve ever been to. Every little detail was a discovery and a delight, making us appreciate all the love and care put into restoring and maintaining this historic property. Even though you experience the history of the place as soon as you step inside, all the conveniences you’d expect to find in a modern home are there. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer! The cottage is warm and cosy, making even rainy days enjoyable – it felt so good just to stay in. However, if weather permits, the surrounding countryside provides many a scenic route to explore. Our favourites were Hafod forest (beautiful waterfalls and landscapes, mostly easy to walk) and the seaside path between Llangrannog and New Quay (lots of climbing up and down, but the views are amazing). Aberystwyth is also a pretty town worth a visit. And dining at Ty Mawr is a very special experience – not cheap at all, but worth every penny you spend there.Thank you Melise for being the great host that you are, we enjoyed this stay a lot and would love to come back!”  Maria and Yuri*****

“What a wonderful secluded romantic getaway! With this unique cottage as a base of operations, we had an absolutely wonderful time exploring Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire in our rental car!

It is clear that a great deal of care and craftsmanship has gone into the restoration and upkeep of this special place. The natural beauty of the surrounding area complements the handsome lodgings.

There’s many fun adventures to be had in Llandeilo, Aberaeron, and Lampeter. The cottage is well stocked with good local information for tourism sites and restaurants in the area.

Highly recommended!”
