Slowly, but surely,  I am adding content to this blog.  Check out the new page called “Things to do.”  I will start adding specific activity pages soon.  Most guests actually enjoy doing nothing much, frankly.  Everyone’s favorite activity is just enjoying the place.  In the meantime, here is a poem by my daughter about Ffynnon Oer (this wasn’t spontaneous, btw, this was an assignment for her composition class ;-)).

My favorite place is somewhere that isn’t extravagant or over astonishing, rather tranquil and calm.

I wouldn’t go as far to say that it is necessarily a quiet place.  The sound of sheep is the music in the air.

The land is filled with hills of green, wise and old. Forests filled with leaves that dance in the wind. Mother nature moves and speaks through the steadiness of the land, and the crisp air sparkling with life.

And when the sun shines it gives the feeling of inner warmth and peacefulness. For this light brightens the darkest corners or hides the hidden cracks. The land is free from the traffic of any cities, free from disturbances.

It is a time capsule in the modern world.

Giving no thought to time’s constant call.  Looking as if majestic castles that blossom seamlessly, should still be in use, should still have knights and ladies going about their daily lives.

But sadly there are only remains of once great castles. Their ghosts now quiet and stable; becoming a part of the on-going serenity of the landscape.

My favorite place is a land of breathtaking beauty, which has been forgot in the fast pace of the technology filled world.

This place is my second home, a thatched cottage in Wales.  It is a place that gives me mental peace, with its gentle lands, confusing language, and its restful environment.

My favorite place in the world is my little hobbit hole.
