This is our front door.  It is painted in the most traditional of Welsh cottage colors – red oxide (as a rust inhibitor, it was  one of the few colors available to a local 18C farmer).

Even though you can’t see it in this photo, our doorway is very short – hence the nickname of Hobbit House.  In fact, all the door frames are very low. I habitually touch the top of the door frame whenever passing through just to avoid hitting my head.
